CIVL2410
Soil Mechanics
About course
This course focuses on the theory and principles underpinning the mechanics of soil and forms the foundation of geotechnical engineering. The main concepts taught in this unit include classification of soil, the effect of water flowing through soils, vertical and horizontal stresses as well as settlement and consolidation of soil. A thorough understanding of Soil Mechanics is essential for all engineers as every structure interacts with the ground.
