FINS1613
Business Finance
University of New South Wales, Australia
About course
Business Finance explores the foundation of financial processes. The course begins by looking at the different types of financial firms that emanate throughout the world. Corporations consist of financial managers with obligations that must be met in accordance to shareholders. Business Finance also looks into the mathematics necessary to determine the value of securities and projects. The valuation of projects and securities is an important aspect as managers require the best indicators possible to determine whether certain projects are worth undertaking. An understanding of the relationship between risk and return is another area of focus alongside the costs of obtaining funds (capital) in order to fuel financial activities and projects. We finally conclude with mechanical ways to obtain capital and realise that there is an optimal capital structure (debt and equity).
